ECOSHAZ project aims to establish a sustainable knowledge framework addressing the costs and benefits of prevention and response to coastal hazards resulting from hydro-meteorological events (flooding, shoreline erosion, storm surges, and sea level rise) and oil spill accidents.
Notwithstanding the considerable progress that has been made over the past few decades in the fields of hazards’ analysis and modelling, successful delivery of Cost/Benefit (C/B) assessment still remains very challenging.
ECOSHAZ project intends to overcome this weakness by:
i) reviewing and analyzing the available frameworks, methodologies and tools
ii) providing state of the art guidance as well as necessary data sources and support structures for the economic assessment of coastal risk prevention measures
iii) validating the applicability of the developed materials.
