The workshop took place in Brest, France, from 30 January to 2 February 2002. Its aim was to gather together European experts in the field of response to oil spills with an experience in or an interest in environmental restoration and ecological monitoring, in order to share experience from past accidents and discuss recent developments. The objective was also to collate and transmit to the EC the proposals these experts made in order to improve European cooperation in matters of information, research and exchange of experience.
