Networking for Cross-border Risk Management Plan (R-PLAN)

Networking of civil protection actors for the application of an advanced approach for risks assessment in six Slovak and Czech regions is a primary goal of the project.

The initiative is developed by two partners actively engaged in the analytical, methodological and operational civil protection mechanisms in the partner countries.

The Slovak International Security and Emergency Management Institute is delegated by the national Civil Protection Authorities to advance methods and analyses in disaster risk management. Equally, the Institute for Protection of the Population is a state civil protection affiliated/subordinated institution providing education, scientific research, informative and consultative services in the areas of emergency planning and management to local and regional rescue services actors and Integrated rescue system.

While cooperation is established in the area of emergency response, cross-border cooperation for prevention phases needs to be enhanced by introducing the risk assessment methods. We will directly impact the groups of civil protection officers, firefighters, rescue and first response service officers, volunteer protection and climate change NGOs, science and research centres in the cross-border regions.

R-Plan is a 24-month cooperation initiative of capacity building, knowledge and analytical work. The partnership pursues to achieve sustainable cross-border agreements of the civil protection actors, to bring new assessment tools of a synchronised risk assessment CBC methodology, and to network stakeholders via expertise meeting and training events.
