On 13 February 2015, the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) held an Information Day on the "Civil Protection Work Programme 2015". The event took place in Brussels, Belgium.

Aim

The aim of the Information Day is to familiarise potential applicants with the upcoming Civil Protection calls for proposal and tenders, provide guidance on the preparation of the applications and on the overall 2015 Work Programme.

In order to ensure that the proposals and tenders comply with the required quality standards and to increase their success rate, the Commission informs potential applicants on the technical and administrative requirements and criteria applicable.

Funding opportunities for a number of activities such as projects on prevention and preparedness, exercises on modules and buffer capacities are available via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Since last year, some Mechanism activities have been extended to the Eastern and Southern Neighborhood and to EU candidate countries and potential candidates which are not yet members of the Mechanism. The new initiatives should provide for direct cooperation between the Mechanism's Participating States and the neighbouring countries in the field of disaster management, and should complement the activities financed by the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and the European Neighborhood Policy Instrument (ENPI).

Supporting relevant, innovative and cost-effective proposals is essential to allow a successful implementation of the Commission's policy objectives.

Participants

The Information Day is intended for representatives of all the relevant stakeholders in the field of civil protection (national administrations, regional and local authorities, private sector, non-governmental organizations, academies, research institutes).
