The European Commission's department for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Operations will hold an Information Day focusing on its work programme for civil protection.

The Information Day took place on Thursday 25 January 2018 at the European Response Coordination Centre (ERCC) in Brussels, Belgium.

Aim

The aim of the Information Day is to familiarise organisations and authorities interested in applying for funding opportunities with the "Civil Protection Work Programme". Useful guidance on the preparation of applications for proposals and tenders will also be given.

Funding opportunities for a number of activities such as projects on prevention and preparedness, exercises on modules and buffer capacities are available via the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Some Mechanism activities are now extended to the Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood countries and to EU candidate and potential candidate countries which are not yet members of the Mechanism. The new initiatives should provide for direct cooperation between the Mechanism's Participating States and the neighbouring countries in the field of disaster management, and should complement the activities financed by the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and the European Neighbourhood Policy Instrument (ENPI).

In order to ensure that the proposals and tenders comply with the required quality standards and to increase their success rate, the Commission informs potential applicants on the technical and administrative requirements and criteria applicable at the Information Day.

Supporting relevant, innovative and cost-effective proposals is essential to allow a successful implementation of the Commission's policy objectives.

Participants

The Information Day is intended for representatives of actors in the field of civil protection (national administrations, regional and local authorities, private sector, non-governmental organisations, academies, research institutes).
