Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarčič, announced the launch of the first edition of the European Prize for Humanitarian Innovation (InnovAid) at the closing session of the European Humanitarian Forum 2023.

The Innovaid prize will be awarded to the actors that have developed the most innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of humanitarian actors to deliver assistance to the most vulnerable. It is supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) under Horizon Europe.

Commissioner Lenarčič said: “As humanitarians, we have a duty to innovate where possible, to help reach as many people in need as we can with the resources at our disposal. I’m pleased to be able to launch this new prize for Humanitarian Innovation, which will recognise the European companies and organisations whose technologies have changed the way we deliver aid and have saved lives in crises around the world.”

Further details and exceptions can be consulted in the rules of contest.

The contest is open for applications from 21 March (00:00 CET) until 3 October 2023 (17:00 CET).

More details on eligibility and application can be found on the competition’s website.
