The ministerial meeting of the main annual pledging event for the Syrian people – the 6th Brussels Conference “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Region” (#SyriaConf2022) – is ongoing today.
Chaired by High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell, it gathers more than 75 delegations from 55 countries and 22 international organisations, including the UN, in direct political and financial support for the Syrians and their host communities in neighbouring countries.
The opening address of High Representative/Vice-President Borrell is published here. It will be followed by a speech by Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi.

The Brussels Conference started yesterday with the Day of Dialogue, which allowed to produce valuable recommendations based on exchanges with civil society actors from Syria and the region and operational actors engaged in the response to the Syrian crisis.
