The European Commission has released nearly €11 million to support humanitarian aid and strengthen disaster preparedness across Asia in 2026.

The funding will help people affected by the main ongoing humanitarian crises in the region and will strengthen disaster preparedness in an area prone to natural hazards.

Following the earthquake that struck Nepal earlier this month, the EU has approved a €2 million aid package to bring relief to the most affected people. It will help provide shelter, access to clean water and sanitation, and health care, among other services.

Today, the Commission has announced the release of €8 million in humanitarian assistance and disasters preparedness funding for the Philippines, Nepal and other South-East Asian countries to support people affected by recurrent natural hazards and conflict, among other causes of vulnerability.
