Helping children in Iraq catch up on learning

Conflict, displacement and COVID-19 have considerably disrupted Iraq's education system in recent years.

If children are fortunate to be in school, they are at high risk of dropping out.

That’s where remedial classes come in. They bridge the gap between what students are expected to know at a certain age and what they actually know.

If done well, such classes help children get back to school while preventing dropouts.

In Iraq’s Salah Al Din governorate, the EU helps the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) to run remedial classes for displaced students, aged 6 to 14.

The feedback from both students and parents has been overwhelmingly positive!
