Treatment of pollution waste

The course was held in Bremen, from 1 to 6 December 2002. The specific aims of the project were:

Overview of marine pollution waste, including types, quantities, toxicities, sampling techniques and case studies for maritime accidents;
Expert information on degradation and behaviour of pollution waste in the marine environment;
Overview of the state of the art of various treatment options for solid and liquid waste and liquid contamination of soil and sediment, including cost and benefit, constraints and duration;
Detailed understanding of legal framework for pollution prevention and treatment waste, soil and water, on European and national levels.
