Covering the EU Humanitarian Response in Armenia
We are organising a media trip for journalists to Armenia, which will take place from 4 to 7 November, including the travel time.
One year ago, a military offensive in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region forced almost the entire population of Karabakh Armenians to flee their homes. As a result, more than 100,000 people arrived in Armenia.
Those freshly displaced, faced various challenges as they were forced to start their lives anew. One year on, many still rely on humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs.
The European Union is one of the key humanitarian donors in Armenia. In response to the September 2023 escalation, the EU provided over €12 million in humanitarian aid, with an additional €5.5 million allocated in 2024 to strengthen operations in Armenia. This funding supports displaced and vulnerable people by ensuring access to basic needs, health care, shelter, food, and protection.
During the media trip, you will be able to visit the humanitarian projects in Armenia, interview the refugees benefitting from EU-funded humanitarian assistance, and meet the EU humanitarian team on the ground.
Deadline for registration: 4 October 2024
