Description
The event takes place in the context of the EU-Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Forum: “Partners in Change” Youth, Civil Society and Local Authorities (EU-LAC Civil Society Forum), a key milestone ahead of the EU-CELAC Summit 2023 of 17 and 18 July.
In the past few years, the LAC region has faced numerous disasters, such as COVID-19, the 2021 earthquake in Haiti, the destructive hurricanes ETA and IOTA in the Central American region in 2020, and hurricane ELSA in the Caribbean territory in 2021, among others. These disasters have occurred during a challenging period with complex crises impacting the region, leading to a significant increase in urgent needs.
This event constitutes an opportunity for the Commission and UNDRR to showcase the impacts of disaster preparedness actions in the region.
The event will be held on a hybrid format and can be followed online upon registration. In person participation is by invitation only.
