The European Commission announced an initial humanitarian pledge of over €2.3 billion for 2025 to address urgent global crises at the European Humanitarian Forum concluded today in Brussels.

In 2024, over 295 million people across 53 countries and territories faced acute hunger – an increase of almost 14 million people compared to 2023 – while the number of people facing catastrophic levels of hunger reaches a record high.

Several Latin American and Caribbean countries are grappling with humanitarian challenges, mainly due to the Venezuela crisis, natural disasters, and armed conflicts. The European Commission will provide €120 million in humanitarian aid this year to help the region's most vulnerable.

To help address the difficult humanitarian situation in Sudan, the European Commission and Member States have pledged €522 million in aid for 2025 at the High-level Conference for Sudan, co-hosted in London today by the Commission alongside the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the African Union.

People affected by humanitarian crises in the Greater Horn of Africa and in West and Central Africa will receive €258 million in EU humanitarian aid from the Commission to address their urgent needs.
