The Commission announced today new funding of €22 million in humanitarian aid in Ethiopia as well as €3 million in Kenya to support those suffering from the impact of conflict, displacement, drought and health issues.

Following the outbreak of violence in Sudan, the European Commission has allocated €200,000 for immediate relief and first aid assistance to people injured or exposed to high risk in the capital Khartoum and other affected states.

The humanitarian situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) continues to deteriorate, especially in the east of the country. As a result, the EU is allocating an additional €32.7 million, to support the humanitarian crisis response in the country.

The European Commission is allocating €106.2 million to Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, and Türkiye to develop the new rescEU Emergency Medical Team (EMT) capability.

A delivery of emergency energy support coordinated via the EU’s private donation scheme has arrived in Ukraine. Some 169 generators donated by the Minderoo Foundation in Australia have been transported to Ukraine via the rescEU’s energy hub in Poland.

Due to the drastic deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the EU has set up a Humanitarian Air Bridge with life-saving supplies, including medicines, nutritional materials, and equipment to Goma.

To further strengthen emergency response, the EU is developing its own shelter reserves that can be deployed in the context of crises or disasters that overwhelm national response capacities.
