Ireland is a strong partner on humanitarian aid, consistently supporting needs-based, principled EU action, and has a long-standing record of commitment to multilateralism and to the most vulnerable.

Humanitarian aid must reach people in need, and civilians must be allowed to leave. The EU is engaging with relevant partners and using every available avenue to facilitate assistance, including for people trapped in temporarily occupied territories.

Regular EU exercises are one of the actions set out in the Preparedness Union Strategy to strengthen Europe’s readiness for complex crises.
