The European Commission announced an initial humanitarian pledge of over €2.3 billion for 2025 to address urgent global crises at the European Humanitarian Forum concluded today in Brussels.

In 2024, over 295 million people across 53 countries and territories faced acute hunger – an increase of almost 14 million people compared to 2023 – while the number of people facing catastrophic levels of hunger reaches a record high.

Several Latin American and Caribbean countries are grappling with humanitarian challenges, mainly due to the Venezuela crisis, natural disasters, and armed conflicts. The European Commission will provide €120 million in humanitarian aid this year to help the region's most vulnerable.
