Le logement est un besoin humain fondamental pour la survie en cas de catastrophes de cause naturelle ou humaine, notamment de conflit.

After more than 40 years of conflict, natural hazards and chronic poverty, Afghanistan is facing one of the world’s largest and most complex humanitarian crises worldwide, which has also far-reaching impacts on neighbouring Iran and Pakistan.

Algeria

The political conflict in Western Sahara, unresolved for over 5 decades, has left thousands of Sahrawi refugees stranded. They live in 5 isolated camps in the southwest Algerian desert near Tindouf.

The 6-week-long 2020 war in and around Nagorno-Karabakh resulted in severe consequences for the inhabitants of the region. Last year, the escalation and subsequent ceasefire led to mass exodus of people from Nagorno-Karabakh.

Food assistance

Bangladesh is currently home to over 1 million Rohingya refugees who have fled targeted violence, large-scale armed attacks, and human rights violations in neighbouring Myanmar.

Burkina Faso

Although scale of displacement has reduced and stabilised since 2024, a combination of escalating insecurity and challenging climatic conditions fuels one of the most neglected humanitarian crises globally in Burkina Faso.

A group of people, including women and children, stand and sit in a settlement area with makeshift shelters made of straw, tarpaulin, and other materials. The background shows a brick building with blue windows and additional shelters extending into the distance. The setting appears to be a temporary housing area, possibly a refugee or displaced persons camp.

Burundi is facing a severe but often overlooked humanitarian crisis, appearing in CARE’s list of the world’s 10 most neglected crises for the ninth time in 10 years. The country’s humanitarian situation remains precarious, with 70 percent of its population living below the poverty line.

Cameroon

In Cameroon, 9 out of 10 regions are in the grip of 3 complex and separate humanitarian crises. Violence and insecurity have forcibly displaced more than 2.2 million people, including internally displaced people, returnees and refugees. The EU remains a reliable donor of humanitarian aid.

Caribbean

The Caribbean is the second most disaster-prone region in the world, regularly hit by disasters. Its Small Islands Developing States are increasingly vulnerable to climatic events, which are becoming more intense, unpredictable, and frequent, resulting largely from the impacts of climate change.

The Central African Republic (CAR) is one of the poorest countries in the world and is at the bottom of the Human Development Index: 191st out of 193 countries.

Central America

In Central America and Mexico, natural hazards, violence, and displacement have all exacerbated the ongoing humanitarian crisis. The United Nations estimates that about 4.6 million people of the region’s population require humanitarian aid.

Central Asia

The Central Asia region comprises the countries of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. These countries are vulnerable to natural hazards, the effects of climate change, increasing public health risks, social vulnerabilities and intra-regional tensions.

Chad

Chad, one of the world’s poorest countries, faces low development, limited social services, and climate hazards. Humanitarian needs are soaring due to a mass influx of refugees and returning Chadians from Sudan, a protracted crisis in the Lake Province, and unprecedented food insecurity.

The EU is committed to protect children caught in armed conflicts and to ensure that their needs and rights are respected and fulfilled.
